Picture Book Project

Created for Rutgers University MI - Children, Reading and Literacy

During the fall 2024 semester, I took the class Children, Reading and Literacy as part of the MI program at Rutgers (17:610:530). I learned how children’s literature has evolved and how to apply it to a public library setting. I read many picture and middle grade books, studying how the structure and art impacts children’s literacy development. One project was to create our own picture book.

My book is about a dog who takes himself for a walk. It is called “Prince’s Big Walk,” inspired by a true story my mom told me.
